This piece August Antics is focused on recycling off Festival flyers and magazines from the 2025 Edinburgh Fringe. These material are fixed within the body of the artwork. I took to the streets once again this year (2025) collecting in the multiple shows that were on around the City after the success of my festival themed Victoria Street scenes during my artist in residence in Edinburghs’s Virgin Hotel. In a Quirky Queue style the festival magazine pieces were firstly used to create the backdrop of Victoria Street where much of the action happens during the bustling festival. A mixed media layering technique is used with many different mediums from acrylic paint to nail polish to the finest of sniping from the flyers themselves. The final cherry on the cake with my works sees me adding magazine figures to help create the busy energy on the Streets of Edinburgh during the month of August. Up-cycled nail polish was used for the heads then further accessorised to really bring the characters to life. To protect the finished artwork satin varnish is applied. Framed in a black contemporary frame measuring 66.5cm x 66.5cm. Strung and ready to hang.
